What you get, in about the time it takes to run a bath
You give it a name — your child's, and the dog's if you like — an age band, and either a theme or a sentence about what is going on this week. It writes a story with them in it, checks it, reads it aloud, and puts it in your library with painted cover art.
No prompt engineering, no copying text into another tool to hear it, no fiddling. The output is a finished audio story, not a draft for you to perform.
Why the narration is the part that matters
A generated story you have to read aloud yourself has solved the easy half of the problem. The hard half is that it is twenty past seven, you have read the same book nine times, and your voice has gone.
Six narrators read Fablebee stories — Arthur, Ted, Nora, Ronan, Wilf and Elsie — five British and one Irish, and you can hear every one of them before you sign up for anything. The samples are cut through the same chain a real story goes through, so what you hear is what you get.
How it differs from a general chatbot
You can ask any general assistant for a bedtime story and get a decent one. What you will not get is a consistent cast you do not have to re-describe every night, an age band that actually shapes the vocabulary, a length you can hold to, painted artwork, a downloadable MP3 for the car, or a voice reading it.
You also will not get a check on what comes out. Every Fablebee story is checked against what we will not produce before it reaches you — and we are straight about the limits of that check on how a story is made: it runs on the same model that wrote the story, so it is a safety net, not a second opinion.

Being straight with you
These are AI-generated audio stories. A language model writes them and a synthetic voice reads them — nobody is in a studio. We put that on every page rather than in the small print, because you are choosing what your child listens to.
We also ask for very little to do it: a first name or nickname and an age band. Never a date of birth, never a photograph, never a school. Safety and privacy sets out what is kept, for how long, and what we refuse to do with it.
